⌊imited edition handbags are always in high demand. The idea that your
favorite designer is launching a special handbag line,
one never to be replicated again, while produced in a controlled quantity,
is engaging to the shopper. This also engages the counterfeiter.
When a line of limited edition bags like the ten year anniversary of the
Motorcycle bag (Balenciaga) take the fashion world by storm, the
counterfeiters jump all over it. They meticulously monitor every tweak in the fashion industry, every change, no matter how small or insignificant. Always quick to capitalize on the newest model, trend, color, etc, as soon as the limited edition handbag hits the street, they hit the counterfeiter’s factory. Now this is nothing new, and nothing shocking either. But there is a small point to be made here.
This is just a tiny reminder when you hit the viral marketplace, and hunt for that great handbag deal... Limited
editions handbags, sunglasses, shoes etc, are made in (captain obvious) limited quantity,
and are intended for retail consumption, and are marketed to the most loyal fan base, and for
this reason, it is absolutely rare to the point of almost never, will the new limited edition handbags be
found sitting in an ebay store or some other random online dominion. These bags sell quick, sell out,
and do not-as a general guideline- hit the wholesale marketplace at all.
So watch out for sellers with the newest “limited edition” (enter designer here) handbag, a few months after the
launch, or even after the launch at any time. The authentic bags will turn up at some point on ebay
or other reputable selling venues, but they well usually do so as a pre-owned sale, or consignment sale,
but unlikely to be brand new with tags.
So this is just a common sense heads up, not a handbag commandment:
Beware of unlicensed sellers
with brand new, limited edition handbags, in their possession.
This is also true with accessories like limited edition sunglass cases, cell phone cases, dustbags, wallets,
coin purses wristlets etc. Take sunglasses as an example: Sometimes the limited edition part of the package
is not the host item, meaning the actual eyewear itself-the limited edition may be the sunglass case. A new model of glasses may get launched with a limited edition case given to a small amount of glasses, but all the sunglasses are the same. The rest of the new models get the standard designer case. The same rules apply to the limited edition accessories: it will be highly unlikely for a wholesale/ebay/unlicensed seller to have the brand new limited edition cases/accessories.
