Chanel walletsChanel wallet packages: Below are various wallet packages from some retail websites specializing in phony designer handbags and accessories etc. Each image has its own clues to alert the buyer of the counterfeited status of the wallet package.
Below is an image of a fake Chanel wallet:
Note:
The most glaring tell that jumps right out through the picture is the rainbow
hue that the authenticity card is giving off. This tell was mentioned in the
first part of the spot fake Chanel guide. Any authentic
Chanel auth card would never throw off a rainbow prism-like color spectrum.
A legitimate card with gold foil design would reflect only gold. Also, the gold logo
on the box looks a little cramped, the right C is squished in slighlty more than the
left C. This means the two C's are not symmetrical.
Below is an image of another fake Chanel wallet:
Note: This picture (below) has another clue, not as dramatic as the first fake wallet, but easily detectable. The flap seams do not line up with the wallet body seams. On an authentic Chanel handbag or wallet the seams will meet (line up) when the flap is closed. On this fake wallet you can clearly see that the seams do not line up. However, even on an authentic Chanel there may be times when the seams do not line up completely perfect. That being said, the amount that the seam will be off on an authentic Chanel will be minimal, and almost unrecognizable unless a closely inspected.
Note:
Also notice the barcode on the box (above). This appears to be an attempt to create a fake
barcode giving the illusion of an authentic wallet coming from a retail venue. But if
you look closely at the barcode it looks like a poor copy. The lines are fuzzy, not crisp,
they look faded and gray, and the UPC code looks like it has too many numbers. Spotting a fake
barcode is something we talk about in our
spot fake concert tickets guide. Also, we talk about barcodes
in our spot fake handbags guide, and how they offer
clues to the origin of the handbag or wallet. Here we see the counterfeiter trying to
capitalize on an authenticity detail like retail barcodes.

Note:
Nothing jumps out here that is glaringly obvious, but under close inspection,
we noticed sloppy stitch lines throughout the interior. Crooked, uneven and unraveled
seams in are noticeable in several places. A good tool to have on hand when looking at
handbag listings online is a small magnifying glass. This will help spot some of the
smaller details you may miss with the naked eye.
